Our Tours!

Educational Tour at Tesoro Verde Reserve! The Educational Tour at Tesoro Verde will take you to our reserve, which has four interpreted walking trails:  Morpho Trail, approximately  45 minutes long, Baco Trail (30 minutes), Estrangulador Trail (1 hour and 30’) and the Podocarpus  (2 hours and 30’).  You will be able to choose the trail that you prefer.  These trails of primary and secondary forest offer an impressive diversity of native flora and fauna, that our local guide will interpret in a fun way. We have identified a great variety of bird species, such as the Great Tinamou, the Magnificent Frigatebird, the Red Lored Parrot, between many others.  After visiting our treasured reserve, we will pay a visit to Los Planes school, where we will learn more about the way of living in our community and the educational system in the rural areas.  Besides, the children of Los Planes will show you their medicinal plantation and will introduce you to this rich knowledge.  Optional:  lunch at Tesoro Verde’s cozy restaurant

Duration:  3 hours (depends on the trail they choose).  Includes:  local guide, entrance to the reserve, visit to the school.   Difficulty level:  moderate.  Bring:  comfortable walking insect repellent, cap, binoculars, camera.

 

Paraíso Verde Waterfalls Tour! This is a fascinating one day tour where we will cross the primary forest that borders Corcovado National Park, until reaching the refreshing waterfalls of Paraíso Verde, where we will enjoy a delicious bath and a well earned lunch along the river.  During the walk, the guide will share with you all the secrets of the forest.  During summer (December-April), the tour can be done by horse. 

Duration:  6 hours (4 hours walking).  Includes:  local guide and lunch (horses are optional).   Difficulty level:  advanced.  Bring:  comfortable walking shoes, swim suit, insect repelent, cap, binoculars, camera.

 

 

Natural Springwaters and exchange with local family! This tour will give you the opportunity to combine various activities of great interest. You will first enjoy a soft walk along the mountain, until reaching to the roustic house of Oldemar and his family, where they will give you a hearty welcome.  Oldemar’s children will be your best guides to reach the natural pools, where we will delight ourselves swimming and relaxing. You can choose if you want to have lunch at Oldemar’s home or by the river…expect a delicious meal! This will be definitely an enriching experience.  This tour can also be done by horse.

Duration:  4 ½ (2 hours walk)     Includes:  local guide, lunch and entrance fee to the natural pools, (horses are optional).  Difficulty level:  moderate.  Bring:  comfortable walking shoes, swim suit, insect repellent, cap, binoculars, camera.

 

Río Claro Tour! On the tour to Río Claro you will enjoy a one hour and half walk along the mountain, crossing primary and secondary forests.  We will then ascend to the Sierpe river’s mouth, where you will enjoy a delicious swim, or 1 km. away from the river, you will be able to take a bath or snorkel at San Josecito’s Beach.  You can also rent a boat to travel along the river or buy local handicrafts.  

Duration:  6 hours (3 hours walking slowly)     Includes:  local guide, optional horses, lunch by the river or by the beach.  Difficulty level:  moderate.  Bring:  comfortable walking shoes, swim suit, insect repelent, cap, binoculars, camera, snorkeling equipment.

 

Península de Osa Canopy Tour! Spring from one tree to the other while observing the spectacular canopy of the forest.  This is a great opportunity to admire the forest from a bird’s perspective.  The canopy borders a beautiful river and offers impressive sceneries of the river and forest. 

Duration:  2 hours.  Includes:  canopy equipment, local guide.  Difficulty level:  advanced.  Bring:  comfortable walking shoes, long trousers, insect repellent, camera, cap.

 

Caño Island Tour!  (Optional:  Diving or snorkeling) Caño Island Biological Reserve is located approximately one hour away from Drake bay by boat.  Caño Island is an excellent spot to dive or snorkel.  Besides offering a beautiful beach great to relax and bathe at the crystal clear waters, at Caño Island you will find a pre-columbian cemetery.   Various trails along the island will lead you to discover the mysterious pre-columbian spheres that were found in Costa Rica.                                                                                                                                    Duration:  8 hours.  Includes:  boat transportation to the island, guide, lunch (snorkel or diving equipment).  Difficulty level:  moderate.  Bring:  sun block, bathing suit, cap, camera.

Waterfall tour to Corcovado National Park! Corcovado contains eight unique habitats ranging from mountain forest to swamp. In the park, scientists have identified at least 500 species of trees, 285 birds, 139 mammals, 116 amphibians and reptiles and 16 freshwater fishes. Corcovado National Park is also famous for its red scarlet macaws, and is the biggest virgin tropical forest in Costa Rica, full of exotic flora and fauna.  Walking from Tesoro Verde to Corcovado will take you four hours, and by boat, 25 minutes.  Once at the park, you will walk through the spectacular trails until reaching Corcovado Waterfall, where you will relax at its delicious waters.                                     Includes:  local guide, local guide & boat transportation.  Does not include entrance to the park.  Difficulty level:  advanced.  Bring:  walking shoes, sun block, bathing suit, cap, camera, insect repellent.
